Are you looking for a small town feel, with waterfront access and easy Gulf and bay access? If so, the Apollo Beach area in Florida could be just what you’re looking for. In this article, we’ll explore the charming town of Apollo Beach, along with the surrounding towns of Ruskin, Wimauma, and Sun City Center.

Apollo Beach: Small Town Charm with Waterfront Access

Apollo Beach has a population of around 14,000 and offers a small town feel. The town is built with canals, offering plenty of waterfront property. There is easy Gulf and bay access, particularly for those with larger boats, as many areas are not bridge locked. Apollo Beach also has a swimming beach and a preserved beach. Plus, visitors can witness manatees up close near the large power plant.

Ruskin: Small Town with New Development

Ruskin is another small town in the Apollo Beach area, offering waterfront property and new development. While there are some older homes, there are also new neighborhoods, such as the South Shore Yacht Club, with high-end houses that come with their own private beach. Dr. Horton is also developing new neighborhoods in the area.

Wimauma: Quirky Town with a Mix of Old and New

Wimauma is a quirky town with a mix of old and new homes, including several new developments with multiple builders in the same development. Dr. Horton has developed new construction homes in this area, as well as larger homes on big lots. The town is named after the founder’s three daughters: Wilma, Mod, and Mary.

Sun City Center: Sprawling Suburbia Communities and New Development

Sun City Center offers a mix of 55+ communities and other new developments. Many of the houses were built during the 2000s, giving the area a newer feel than Apollo Beach. There is a lot of nice housing available, and it has been developed thoughtfully to be easily accessible. Some residents even commute from Sun City Center to St. Petersburg.
