Today, let’s talk about the cost of living in Tampa. It has changed a lot in the past few years. But there is something magical about the Tampa area. You probably have considered moving here, and we totally get you; that’s why we’ve got our amazing team of realtors ready to hop on a Zoom call and figure out how we can best help you process the move, make a move, buy the house, and all that jazz. So, call, text, or email anytime!
So, let’s talk about the weather in Tampa. You know, it’s not always sunny, and you might wear a coat even in March. But don’t worry, we’re sure you’ll still enjoy it here, even if you’re a bit shocked by the occasional rain and chill.
Now, when I moved to Tampa, the cost of living was kinda average, but let me tell you, that’s no longer the case. Housing costs have skyrocketed. And my charming three-bedroom house, which we bought for $292,000 two and a half years ago, is now worth around $457,000. Crazy, right? That’s a 50% increase!
If you plan to buy a house here right now and put 20% down, your monthly payment would be about $2,500. That’s why we’ve had clients who had to back away from the market, ’cause it was just too darn expensive for them. And let’s be real, it’s not just the newcomers who are struggling to afford it. Locals who have been here forever are also feeling the pinch.
And while we know that many of you move here from more expensive states, we gotta be honest with you, Tampa is not as affordable as it used to be. But we get it, sometimes you just gotta make a move. Maybe you’re coming from California, and you’re thinking, “I wanna live close to my kids when they get out of high school, but if my kids get out of high school and go to college and get married and need to buy a house, they can’t buy a house here in California. So I need to be a place where they could start their life.”
Look, we’re not saying Tampa is perfect, but it’s got a lot going for it. Gorgeous beaches, vibrant culture, and plenty of sunshine. And who knows, you’ll be one of the lucky ones who manage to snag a good deal on a house. So don’t give up hope just yet!
